3 charged in armed robberies at home improvement stores in High Point

HIGH POINT — Three people were arrested Saturday in connection to a string of armed robberies that happened earlier that day.

Around 6:30 p.m., officers arrested Sheayan T. McCoy, 32; Celeste Q. Hunter, 32; and Tommy Harper, 35; all of High Point, during a traffic stop, according to a police news release.

Just before the arrests, police had been called to Home Depot at 2300 N. Main St. in reference to an armed robbery. As officers responded to that, Lowe’s Home Improvement, at 2600 N. Main St., was robbed.

The suspects fled the immediate area driving a silver Chevrolet Malibu before the vehicle was found by officers near the intersection of Johnson Street and West Hartley Drive.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a .40 Hi-Point pistol used in the commission of the robberies, as well as, several items stolen from both locations. Investigating officers were also able to obtain security footage of the suspects from at least one incident location.

All three were placed in Guilford County jail with bail set at $100,000. An initial court date has been set for Feb. 15.
