Five Summer Home Improvement Projects That Provide an ROI

It may be hard to bring yourself to dedicate a Saturday afternoon to a home improvement project, but after all is said and done, few things are more satisfying. It’s wonderful to step back, see the transformation, and be able to say, “This was definitely worth it.”
While the personal satisfaction factor is certainly an important one, there is another element to home improvement that adds a whole new brand of value: ROI.
What is ROI?
“ROI” stands for Return on Investment. After all, it’s one thing to add beauty or make a necessary repair, but it is also worthwhile to think through those specific investments in your property that will pay you back someday.
We want to share five project ideas with you today that you will never regret tomorrow.
Investments in your home that are worth making.
1. Replacing ornamentals with drought-resistant plants – Especially in light of the recent dry weather we have been experiencing, the value of drought-resistant plants is more evident than ever. There are hardy, beautiful options for your home garden that can stay vibrant and healthy without the need for continuous watering. Think of it as trading in your pickup truck for a fuel efficient compact (that also smells beautiful).
2. Adding a fresh coat of exterior paint – Paint offers so much more than a pretty face. It also adds a layer of invaluable protection for your home, and an updated style that only increases the overall marketability of the property.
3. Replacing your front door – This seems like a small change, but it contributes an amazing amount of value. Newer doors often add to the efficiency of the home while also presenting a more modern look. Your entrance is the first welcome you offer your guests, so why not make sure it is a warm one?
4. Siding or window replacements – Few things can transform a house faster than new siding. Age, wear, and tear is erased and replaced with fresh style. Similarly, windows are one of the key contributors to a home’s marketability and value. They efficiently lock out the summer heat, seal in your air conditioner’s chill, and also elevate your level of security and safety.
5. Wood deck addition – Decks are an extension of the home, allowing us to enjoy time with family and friends in the fresh air. They require minimal maintenance, but are a huge boost to the value of your property as a whole.
Happy updating! And remember, as important as ROI is, the greatest consideration should always be given to what will allow you to best enjoy your property.
