Master Bathroom Renovation-The Full Reveal

HERE.

If you wish to follow along from the very beginning like a mini-TV series ? ,please START THE TOUR HEREwhere I give all of the information on the tub removal, the tile, toilet, shower, sink, blinds, light fixture, and planked wall.

I thought I would start in the master bedroom since the 2 rooms are attached by a hall that contains my walk-in closet, and my husband’s closet.  When I envisioned the master bathroom being complete, I wanted it to flow nicely from the rustic, romantic, cozy retreat I designed in our bedroom.  I didn’t really want them to match, but I wanted them to play with each other.  I hope that makes sense.

Okay, so let’s go.  This has been going on long enough, Julie.  Spill the bath beads.

I’m not the best at shooting into a room with a window, but I hope the photos give you a good idea of what it all looks like.  Forest our kitten, has definitely grown you will see.  He walked in right before I started taking pictures just like a movie star.

Here’s to the left toward the shower & toilet.  Rick’s “Shaving Station” is one of my favorite parts and I really wanted “his side” of the bathroom to be very masculine and clean.  Like him.

The shower reveal can be found here: “Shower Reveal“.

The tile reveal can be found here:”Tile Reveal“.

Okay…here we go, for real.  This is while we were working on it.  No, that is not an oven.  I will not be cooking a turkey in the bathroom.

However, I might be lounging in there eating a turkey sandwich  ? .

What do you think of that built-in electric fireplace?  We absolutely love it.  The idea came to me in my sleep when we removed the old tub and we had to think of something to do with that planked wall.  It seemed bare, and boring.  I wanted something cool, fun, and functional.  The electric fireplace really adds warmth ? to a bathroom that can get extremely freezing most of the year.  Would I do this if we lived in Florida?  Probably not.

My husband and I did the electric fireplace installation, however, we hired a professional electrician to run an electrical outlet inside our wall to the new DIY bench.  All I have to do is lift up the top lid Rick made to the bench, and I can reach the plug from there if I have to (remote makes it easy day-to-day).  We will not be giving a DIY tutorial on installing the electric fireplace because we are not qualified (we recommend hiring a qualified electrician to help you).  However, I also want you to know, you can still get one installed for cheaper than you think.  FYI-the heat comes out the front and warms up the entire space in about 5 minutes.  It’s perfect for our cold mornings and can be relaxing and romantic as well.  If you have questions, please let me know in the comments.

All I need is my cup of tea and a good decorating catalog and I could sit here for hours.

My DIY (very affordable) “Black Button Tufted Backboard” attached to Rick’s DIY bench will be explained in the next few weeks.  Or months ? .  I know it isn’t perfect, but it sure is cute, and really wasn’t too difficult.  I used special order shank buttons which are the buttons with no holes in the front.  The fabric button tufted in and then I glued the buttons on top with very strong glue.  The backboard helps add some cozy-ness, don’t you think?  And I love black against wood and white, so it fits.

Those are q-tips in the clear canister on the shelf (no one gives q-tips the attention they deserve ? .

I chose deep emerald green as an accent color in the room because…

It chose me.  Is that possible?  I am a huge Wizard of Oz fan…or maybe because it’s such a natural Earthy color.  It soothes.  I need more green in my life.  The pillows are velvet covers and then you insert the pillow.  See sources below.

Then there’s the vanity…

Wait.  This in MY VANITY!  I caught Rick going into his old drawer on the far right the other day and he said, “Wait a minute.  What am I doing?”

Then I caught him say “Hi buddy!” to his new mirror on the other side.  Hysterical.

Tutorial on hanging easy peasy stained wood on your wall coming soon.  You have got to try this.  If you can’t wait, this tutorial will show you how to stain the wood.  Then you just screw it in.

Check out these cool hand soap containers I found below.  They are huge.  Best, of all…GLASS.  You’ll notice another one on my vanity as well.  See source below.

I opted for a square hand towel holder…

Rick and I like to joke about how we can see each other in the mirror(s) while we are brushing our teeth.  It’s the highlight of my Sunday.  He’s the highlight of my life, so it all makes sense.  I hope you enjoyed our updated master bathroom design.  We really feel lucky to be able to share it with you.  I am so happy that huge tub is gone.
