Well, here we are. Spring has come, and don’t you know, the cold just will not leave us alone. Hopefully, the warm weather will be here to stay soon, and we can all get out and enjoy ourselves.
As we said in last week’s column, this is the time of year to start doing garden work and putting down new mulch and taking care of the palms and bushes.
All homeowners are aware that Walkers Woods is a Firewise community, so when you go out and do the yard work, remember to go to our website and download the Firewise volunteer form. You can fill this form out and submit it to Waccamaw Management Attn: Kay Feld.
The hours you put on the form will count towards our Firewise goal and help us to get our grant money.
Also on the Firewise page you are able to download a Firewise homeowner checklist, a home fire safety survey, and the Firewise investment requirement for 2018.
The event committee reminds everyone about bingo on Thursday at the amenity center at 7 p.m. on March 29.
And start getting your stuff together for the community garage sale in April.
Also, you may want to look on the website and read up on the pool rules for this summer as there have been some changes made.
If you are planning any modifications on your home or property, you need to check out the architectural standards page modification request application form that also has changes.
Again, you can download this form and submit it to Waccamaw Management Attn: Kay Feld with a plot of your property. If you don’t have one, you can use Google Earth and submit that diagram.
The board has received complaints about parking on the streets inside Walkers Woods. Sometimes we seem to forget about our neighbors when we do park on the street.
If fire trucks need to get down your street, cars parked in the road will make it difficult. The streets inside Walkers Woods belong to the county. But we need to remember that our rules say parking is only allowed to the top of the curb. This means not on the sidewalk or the grass.
So, when parking in the street, remember your neighbors, and don’t park by their mailboxes, or block their driveways.
And if you do need to park in the street, the vehicle must be parked in the same direction as the traffic flow.
Well, that is going to do it for this week.
